Spring Break?…School Is Never Out For The Professional

Spring is here. If you look around you’ll see plenty of signs. Days are getting longer, flowers are beginning to blossom, Baseball’s Spring Training is wrapping up and if you have kids they’re either on spring break or have had it already.

If you have children in school or think back to when you were in school, Spring Break was always something to look forward too. A time when you didn’t have to go to school and you had a chance to play. Be it fun little kids games or college road trips. You took the time to play and leave the studies behind.

However, if you’re a serious professional in any industry I’d like to remind you that school is never out for the professional. We get any chance of a little down time or break from the action and a professional is going to take the opportunity to advance and broaden their knowledge and skills.

There are many ways in which you can do this. You can read professional trade publications in your industry. You can take a class or attend a seminar, often times online from the comfort of your own home. In my book, one of the best ways to continue your education and advance your learning is to attend “live events”.

In the last 2 weeks I had the opportunity to do this not just once, but twice.

The first event was for the company that my wife and I work with, Arbonne International. We had the benefit of going to Las Vegas to attend the company’s National Training Celebration. And a celebration it was…celebrating the company’s 30th Anniversary.

Attending any National training for the company you work with is a must. The opportunity to sit at the feet of giants in your industry and your company to learn is second to none. To be in an arena with 9000 other like minded individuals creates an energy wave that you just have to experience. The ability to connect with others you resonate with and expand your network is priceless…not to mention the outstanding trainers and presentations. Life long bonds are often made and strengthened at these events. When you leave you walk away a completely different person than when you arrived. Always for the better.

This past weekend I attended another “live event”. The Empowered Tribe hosted their first ever live event right in my own backyard. Sure it was convenient for me to go to it because it was less than 30 minutes away but most of the others that attended came from a much further distance. While this “live event” wasn’t the magnitude of a large company conference it was none the less an extraordinary event. Again, having the ability to meet and connect in person, face to face with people you have built a relationship with only makes it stronger. It becomes more personal. Exchanging handshakes and hugs with everyone and getting to know the leaders of Empowered Tribe on a more human level takes everything to a deeper level.

After the Empowered Tribe event was over I had the opportunity to get Nick Logan on camera for a quick interview. Here’s what he had to say.

Looking back I can see the importance of making an effort to attend “live events”. Both events were completely different yet both events held nuggets of gold. Sitting with industry leaders to learn from and mastermind with is extremely valuable. Being in an environment where you are surrounded by other like minded individuals creates enormous energy. Building life long relationships that open the doors to future growth and prosperity can’t be beat. Experiencing it firsthand Live and in Living Color is priceless.

Do you make it a regular habit to attend live events? If so, why? I’d love to hear your feedback. As always I appreciate if you share this with your friends and followers on Facebook and Twitter.

Until next time…Live Your Best Life!

    Thanks Dee,
It would’ve been great if you could’ve made it. It sounded like they are planning some more events in the near future. No idea where or when but it will be before next year.

    Don,
There is such a constant flow of information available, it’s great! I always remember the saying, “You’re either learning and growing or not learning and decaying.” Ok, I took alittle liberty with that one. :)

That’s right Val. I’ve also heard in a little more crass sort of way that if you’re not growing you’re dying…Are you still buying green bananas?

Thanks for stopping by and sharing. I appreciate it.

Right on, Don! If we’re not learning we’re not growing and if we’re not growing, well….yeah, yikes!

I wish I’d been there to meet you all at the Empowered Tribe event, but I’ve really enjoyed the stories that have been shared so far.

Company events are a MUST ~ I have only missed 2 in 13 years ~ one bc I was out of the country travelling and the other because I was too pregnant to fly! These events are everything you said and more….thanks for this important post!

    Hey Beth,
Too prego to fly? Must’ve been too fare away to drive too. That’s a great track record so you know what it’s all about.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Learning never stops! Especially on the internet where something you did a month ago is vintage methodology!
Glad to have you always update us on you learning with your wonderful blog posts, Don. I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more.

Well i’ve heard people say very pejoratively that people who go to lots of seminars are ‘seminar junkies’… so i guess i have an addictive personality then!! LOL

I’ve spent HUNDREDS of thousands of dollars over the last 35 years attending seminars, workshops, events… you name it… AND… I heard Brendon Burchard make the observation the other day that learning is an investment in ones expansion…

Since I am a huge Law of Attraction fan, I reckon expansion is vital if one wants to align with who one wants to become…. so…. I’m not a junkie… I’m a devotee!!

PS It’s Autumn over here in Australia!!

Wow Don…What an adrenaline rush. I didn’t even remember doing this video interview with you. I just stumbled upon this post through the power of the tribe. I had no idea this was even out there.

You have been such a influential and powerful leader within the Empowered Tribe. We are so thankful to have you as a friend and you have been with us since the VERY beginning. Keep up the good work.

Wow…that is humbling to hear. Even though I started out my business a few years ago wrapped around the principal

… it is still humbling to hear “Thanks for all you have given me.”

    Thanks Don
