Life Lessons… From A Tootsie Pop?

A couple of months ago when I first got started working with my Tribe I really had no idea of what I was in for and where this would go. The experience has been enlightening. It continues to bring new skills and reminders of some things that are very important. Today I was reminded of a very simple lesson that has the potential to pay off big time.

The Law of Attraction works in mysterious ways. At times I never fully understand why I am receiving something until time passes and the lesson is revealed.

Today, I attracted into my life something that I have not savored in a long, long time. And, if you paid attention to the headline of this post then you might be able to figure out that it was a Tootsie Pop. I can’t even remember the last time I had a Tootsie Pop.

My first thought was…cool, I haven’t had one of these in forever! I said “Thanks” to the person that gave it to me and I was on my way.

About an hour later it hit me. The Tootsie Pop was my reminder of one of the joys of my life as a child. A simple thing really, but a true joy nonetheless. As I was reminded of this I began to see some lessons come up that are meant as reminders for me today.

As a human being, we’re meant to live life abundantly. Life is supposed to be joyously abundant. We’re meant to have fun. We’re playful creatures by nature. When were in a state like this life flows easily. Getting in touch with your inner child and remembering to be playful and have some fun just enables the flow to come easier. I don’t know about you, but when I’m having fun in life, in work, in marriage…it all just comes easier. Life is meant to be easy!

It’s when we complicate it with stress, deadlines, hustle here and hustle there… shuttling the kids to and fro… the pressure of work, struggling to make our ends meet… Struggle…now there’s an interesting word… I’m feeling more tense right now just writing this sentence. That ain’t Right!

My Sweet Ride

My Sweet Ride

When we’re happy and feeling good life is so much easier. “Everything is going my way”…. “I’m sittin on Top of the World”… Sorry, my wife likes musicals and every once in awhile song verses just pop out at times.

For me, one of the things that I really enjoy doing is getting on my bike and going for a nice long bike ride. There are so many great places to ride in San Diego but nothing beats a good ride on the Coast Highway. The ocean… sun…wind in your face…. and yes, the wonderful smell of the salt air. This brings me back. It puts me in touch with my childhood and I always feel on top of the world when I’ve finished my ride.

I’ve put together a short video as part of The Tribe Mastermind Video Challenge to put this into words. I think you’ll enjoy it. Pay attention, towards the end of the video I reveal another little secret reminder from my Tootsie Pop.

OK, so maybe it’s a goofy analogy but if you think about it…working on your goals is a process. Just like getting to the center of gooey deliciousness in a Tootsie Pop. It takes time. Consistent effort done over time pays off. So, the reminder for me is make sure that I do at least one thing each day that will move me closer to my goal…especially if it involves some repetition.

There you have it. Funny how a Tootsie Pop can set off a train of thinking. Let me know the different ways that you’re reminded of life’s lessons. I’d love to hear how you get in touch with your inner child so that you live more joyful and a little happier. Please leave a comment below…I’d appreciate it.

If you had some fun with this post and it reminded you of different day…one when you were being a kid, playing and having a good time then please share this post on Facebook and Twitter with your friends and followers. They might also enjoy a little flashback in time.

    Thanks Jennifer,

Sometimes it seems a little harder as we get older to remember and take the time to play. In the right environment playfulness can lead to laughter…even gut busting laughter. Listening to music and singing along, dancing…anything that brings joy to our heart just opens us the positive energy that brings so many things much more easily.

Don great reminders of lesson we learned so long ago and didn’t even know it. Take time to enjoy life, not to stress over the small stuff and that it is all small stuff at the end of the line. Also that anything good takes time and is worth waiting for, just like the center of a tootsie-pop!
